EDITOR—Ever since I joined Michelangelo College of Creative Arts, I have only known agony for the raw deals students are subjected to. We never get value for our money. The fees Michelangelo charges are almost equal to those of private universities.

Until recently, the school was attached to Kyambogo University. Hardly a year ago, the teaching staff at Michelangelo went on strike for non-payment of the peanuts they earn for their hard work.
The latest news is that the staff have once again gone on strike for non-payment of their salaries. Because of this, the semester will re-open on January 17, two weeks after the official date! This announcement was on radio and I doubt all students have heard it.
Not long ago we also threatened to strike in defence of our lecturers and for our own welfare such as poor feeding and accommodation. However, the police intervened and the strike was averted but the administration has still learnt nothing! I understand that this problem has dogged the college since its inception some two decades ago.
The board of governors is not helpful at all because they always dance to the tune of the college’s management. As a result of this, the countless problems we face are blatantly ignored!
If the Ministry of Education does not do something about the situation, things will get worse. I request the education minister, Namirembe Bitamazire, to verify my complaints. Name withheld
