THERE will be no relocation of taxis from the Old Taxi Park to Nakivubo Blue Primary School, Kampala Resident District Commissioner, Alice Muwanguzi has said. “It is not logical for a taxi park to co-exist with a school.

It is a threat to the lives of the children,” Muwanguzi told journalists at a press conference on Wednesday.

Muwanguzi’s remarks follow Kampala Mayor, Nasser Ntege Sebaggala’s announcement that Kampala City Council was considering shifting the taxis in the Old Taxi Park to Nakivubo Blue Primary School to allow its rehabilitation.

Flanked by deputy RDCs Rose Kirabira (Kampala Central), Lt. Kayondo Mulowooza (Makindye) and Edward Ssekabanja (Kawempe), Muwanguzi assured the parents and pupils that the school would not be tampered with.

She said relocating taxis to the school would interfere in the learning process of the children because the area had been zoned as a school and not as a taxi park. She also said that the Government decided to retain all her UPE schools in Kampala.

“Whereas it is true that the Old Taxi Park needs urgent repair let KCC and UTODA find a better way of going about this business,” Muwanguzi said.
