Shell cuts petrol prices by sh100

SHELL Uganda has reduced petrol prices from sh2,600 to sh2,500 per litre, the company country chairman, Ivan Kyayonka, announced on Friday.

SHELL Uganda has reduced petrol prices from sh2,600 to sh2,500 per litre, the company country chairman, Ivan Kyayonka, announced on Friday.

Kyayonka said worldwide, the prices of oil had reduced.

He said Shell resolved to pass on the benefits to customers rather than exploit them.

Kyayonka said the company would cut down prices whenever there was an opportunity.

He said the fuel prices also fluctuate according the dollar rate and availability of stocks on the world market.
Kyayonka said he did not know how much fuel stock was available nationally. He however, said, shortage should not translate into cheating the consumers.

A survey carried out by The New Vision around the city on Friday, indicated that most Shell filling stations had ran out of petrol and diesel because of the reduction.

“We were overwhelmed by motorists. They bought all the petrol that we stocked on Thursday. We will stock more,” Shell Ben Kiwanuka street station supervisor said.

Other filling stations have maintained pump prices between sh2800 and sh3000. At Engen filling station on the Lugogo by-pass, petrol was sold at sh2,850, per litre, while diesel cost sh2,350 per litre.

At Gapco Ben Kiwanuka Street, Petrol was sold at sh 2,770 per litre, while diesel was sold at sh 2350 per litre. While at Petro Kampala Road opposite dfcu Bank filling station, petrol cost sh2, 990 and diesel was sold at sh2,345.
