STANDARD Athletics Camp and the national athletics federation, the UAF, will again use the Bukwo Road Run due tomorrow to identify new talent.

Godfrey Nuwagaba, the manager of the Bukwo camp based in Bukwo district, said yesterday that the annual competition that normally attracts athletes who do not take part in national competitions, helps the officials to identify promising athletes.

“With most events being hosted away from the district which has produced several national stars, we think it is better to stage a competition there in a bid to get future stars," said Nuwagaba.

Almost 90% of the national senior team has come from this area which hosts the Standard and Arua Athletics Camps.

"We will also have another event in Kapchorwa next month as a catchment venue from the high altitude area," said Nuwagaba.

The prize money for the Bukwo and the Kapchorwa events is offered by a Canadian Karl Keirstead who lives in New York.

Keirstead has been played a major role in connecting Ugandan athletes to foreign managers.
