CITIES have suburbs and suburbs in turn are dotted with flea markets that bring merchandise to your vicinity. In Kampala, the seven days of the week are all dotted with flea markets at different places on particular days.

A wise shopper does not have to wait to go downtown because all the cheap merchandise can be brought to your doorstep.

A flea market is a type of bazaar where cheap or second-hand goods are sold. It may be indoors in a warehouse, school gymnasium, or outdoors in a field or under a tent.

The flea market vendors may range from a family that is renting a table for the first time to sell a few unwanted household items, to a commercial operation with a variety of used merchandise.

Many of them are located along the roadside which will make your shopping easy. It is possible to buy some stuff while in the car.

Are you the kind of person who loves wearing designer clothes? Designer names like DKNY, Calvin Klein, D&G, and Miss Sixty are expensive in the boutiques. In the flea markets, you can find such labels at low prices ranging from sh3,000 to sh20,000.

It is no wonder they attract many white people because they know they cannot find such cheap designer clothes in their countries.

You can buy food stuff, bags, cosmetics and kitchenware. These markets provide a variety of things in one place.

However, Stoppers should be cautious lest they are robbed by idlers. Make sure you bargain to avoid getting cheated.
Carefully check the merchandise before you purchase it.

Incase it has a problem; you may never find the seller to return the damaged good.

The next time you decide to go shopping, try out the flea markets. Some market days in Kampala are Monday at Port Bell, Wednesday in Bwaise, Thursday in Nateete and Kireka.

Friday is in Kamwokya and Saturday in Nakawa and Kasubi.
