Having grown up around the university, I couldn’t help noticing the chaplain’s old 1980s dilapidated Toyota Corolla of the UXN series. So, I asked the priest if we, the members of his fairly powerful weekly congregation, could not fundraise for him to buy a better car.
The Father answered, “...Kyengera Catholic precinct was recently added to my responsibility, so I am trying to construct a new church there......do you have any friends who can contribute to this cause....?â€
This humility from a man known to be the custodian of St. Augustine’s millions of shillings impressed me because he seemed to care more about his flock than himself.
