I am reading History, Economics, Geography and Art at A' Level and would like to know the courses that are offered at Makerere University when you have taken such a subject combination. Besides, will I be able to qualify for development economics at the University? Victor
HISTORY, economics, geography and art are all arts subjects. These subjects can lead you to various courses at Makerere University. The university offers a range of courses in the faculties of arts, social sciences, law and, more recently, economics and management, among many others. It all depends on what career path you want to take.
Think carefully, ask yourself what you want to do after your undergraduate studies. Look at your potential (talents), your interests and how these fit into your dream career. Then decide what course to take.
According to information from Makerere University, anyone who wishes to study development economics must have the following:
Direct Entry (after A level) - The Uganda Certificate of Education (or its equivalent) - Two advanced level passes in Arts or Science subjects at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examinations or its equivalent. - Essential: Economics with a credit Pass in Mathematics at “O†Level. - Relevant: Two best done of: mathematics, physics, agriculture, geography, and history. - Desirable: General Paper, Subsidiary Mathematics.
