THE Amuru resident district commissioner, Edwin Yakobo Komakech, has blasted MPs from Acholi sub-region who oppose Government development plans.

“In the 2011 general elections, we shall sweep away all politicians who have done nothing to bring about development in the area but have continued to deceive voters and oppose Government programmes,” Komakech said.

He was speaking as chief guest at the 23rd NRM anniversary celebrations at Alero sub-county headquarters.

He added: “The PRDP (Peace Recovery and Development Plan) was approved in Parliament by the MPs. Why did the Acholi MPs not oppose it in Parliament? Why should they wait now when it is going to be implemented and come up and say they are putting a court injunction to stop its implementation?”

Komakech advised the residents to vote NRM candidates who he said would work closely with the ruling Government.

He also called upon the people still in the camps to take advantage of the prevailing peace to return to their home villages and grow crops.

“President Yoweri Museveni has sent you, the people of Amuru district, greetings and has commended you for voting a Movement chairman. For that matter, the Government is sending to Amuru district 10 more tractors,” Komakech said.

Amuru Movement chairman Christopher Ojera and district LC5 chairman Anthony Omach Atube attended the function.
