Feb 01, 2009

PSORIASIS is a chronic skin disease for which we have no cure. The sufferer has patches of rough skin especially in the joints of the hands and legs, and on the head. It can naturally improve for some time, but it does not get completely cured.

Ask the Doctor with Dr. Paul Semugoma

Dear Dr,
I have had Psoriasis for 16 years. I have been on drugs for 10 years now the condition is worsening. I am under the care of a dermatologist.
Rose, Mbale

Dear Rose,
PSORIASIS is a chronic skin disease for which we have no cure. The sufferer has patches of rough skin especially in the joints of the hands and legs, and on the head. It can naturally improve for some time, but it does not get completely cured.

Treatment to control symptoms is successful. There are skin creams, light therapy and drugs to swallow. Because the disease has natural on-andoff times, and treatment depends on the patient.

You have to be under the care of a dermatologist. Rose, this disease, like all chronic illnesses, can be uncomfortable. Hold on and persevere with the doctor’s advice.
