UMAR Kirumira, who emerged the best in last year’s Uganda Advance Certificate of Education from Kawempe Muslim School, was not surprised.

Kirumira, who scored ABAA in History, Economics, Geography, Islam and credit 3 in General Paper, wants to study law at Makerere University, arguing that it is the ideal course for him.

“I spent a lot of time, day and night, reading because I knew it was the only way I would make it since I come from a humble family,” said Kirumira.

He attributes his success to his teachers who, he said, used to teach them at 5:00am in order to cover the entire syllabus.

Kirumira said: “Those who want good things must always work hard for them. You can never succeed if you don’t work hard.”

His Mother, Joweria Namuddu, said she invested the little she had in Kirumira and ensured that she promptly paid his school fees.
