MUSIC critics trashed her debut single Mbikooye as cheap pop fluff, despite the fact that it rode to the top of the charts.
But Cindy is out to prove she is worth her salt. Her latest record Na Wewe has wowed crowds at concerts and made critics think otherwise.

“If Ugandans are ready for good music, then Cindy has it,” says Joel Isabirye of Capital FM. Already, some are likening her to Brenda Fassie at her best while others say she exudes the vocal mastery of Angelique Kidjo.

Na Wewe is a love song in which Cindy sings about a love affair gone bad, with the lady begging her man for forgiveness and calling him back to her bed.

But there is more to this song; the subtle blend of contemporary African tunes into reggae is irresistible. The song also flows with the smooth vocal harmonies and overlapping choruses of a versatile singer.

Little wonder that when Cindy recently performed the song at the Club Silk lounge the crowd was in awe.

Na Wewe is getting tremendous airplay on most FM stations’ love shows fair rotation on TV stations. It is the title track of Cindy’s debut ten-track album.

The album has other goodies lined up like Nakupenda, a Swahili dance vibe guaranteed to sweep anyone off their feet. The song’s energetic Afrobeat vibes are made more exciting by Cindy’s exhilarating vocals.

Hot Like That is more of R’n’ B bordering on Hip-hop. Number One, her collabo with Mickey Wine, is also set to go down well with revellers in dance clubs.

The album also includes You and Me, her collabo with the Nigerian duo P-Square.
“I want to make a mark on the music scene in East Africa so that people can hear a song playing on radio and tell it is Cindy without being told,” she says.
Cindy rose to fame performing in the all-girl trio Blu*3.
