A total of 56 farmers who have been training at Kabarole District Agricultural Training and Information Centre, on Thursday graduated with certificates.

The graduands completed a six-month residential course at the centre in Busoro village. The course covered livestock, crop husbandry, fisheries and agricultural business.

A total of 18 students who excelled in bee-keeping, cabbage and carrot growing, were each given prizes including lamps, spray pumps and cups.

The board chairperson, Samson Agasa, said the graduands had been equipped with skills to add value to agriculture.

“I want you to be commercial farmers who can produce food that is enough for your consumption and for the markets,” said Agasa.

“I do not think you are farmers who will practice farming without value addition,”

The LC5 chairperson, Michael Mugisa, said the centre was established to promote modern farming and train people to share their agricultural skills.

He appealed to farmers to sell their produce through marketing associations, so that they could be offered better prices.
