I found her already there but was given a separate seat and thereafter she was brought to where I was. She came laughing and it excited me.

She said she is from Hoima though her mother is a Zulu from South Africa, living in Saudi Arabia. Her father is in Germany while some of her siblings live in South Africa and Kenya.

I told her I come from Kumi. She called me her baby when I told her I was 24. When I asked how old she was, she said she would tell me if we keep in touch.

She does not drink but said she was okay marrying a man who drinks. She even promised to connect me to people who could get me a job after studies. She offered to open an email for me for easy communication. She told me how life was in the United Arab Emirates, Brussels and Berlin.

Since she was to travel to Masaka that night, she decided to leave. I bit a piece of my chicken and gave it to her and she also did the same.

We walked out of Choma hand-in-hand, hugged and parted company. When I arrived home, I called her and sent her an SMS. She replied, promising to meet me again.

What did you enjoy most?
The friendly and free atmosphere we had. We discussed matters openly.

Are you considering a relationship?
The way we ended, a serious relationship is possible. We were both single and understood each other. She told me I had qualities of a good husband.

What attracted you to her?
Her smiles – they were endless and this encouraged me. I also enjoyed listening to her voice and accent.

When you love somebody you will understand her. I know her job and as long as I see development in our home, there is no problem.

He told me he is a student. He asked if I was married and I told him I wasn’t. I told him I once had a Jamaican fiancé but we separated when I left Canada for Uganda because I was not ready for marriage. “But now, I can begin thinking of marriage, God willing.”

He asked if we could be friends since we were getting along well. I told him it was all right with me. Since he lives in his uncle’s house, he asked if I could offer him accommodation in one of my rooms. I told him I would consider doing it as long as he remained a nice guy.

I asked what he wants to do after his studies and he said it would depend on how he performs. “Can I help you get a job?” I asked. He accepted my offer and we agreed to talk over it next time we meet.

When is your next meeting?
Probably this weekend.

Why do you want to meet him again?
I want to know him more.

What do you find attractive about him?
He is handsome and has beautiful sideburns. He made me feel comfortable.

Will you consider getting serious with him?
At my age I really want a man who is set for marriage. He should be above 30. But Gilbert can be my friend.
