NAMILYANGO College School has been banned from hosting any schools rugby competition till June 2010. This was confirmed by Ronald Mutebi the schools rugby chairman in an interview.

Mutebi said that the ban was slapped on Namilyango by the schools rugby committee which he chairs after finding Namilyango guilty of violence and unsporting conduct.

Namilyango, a former schools rugby power house beat up Kings College Budo player Matthew Opio during a league match hosted by Namilyango that ended 20-8 in favour of Budo.

“The committee decided that Namilyango will not host any match until June 2010, they will not travel with fans to matches and shall pay a fine of sh150,000,”said Mutebi.

“I think these elements of club politics and rivalry are spreading to schools which are not good for the sport and we shall at no time compromise such characters in schools,” Mutebi charged.

Another rugby official said, “This Kobs-Pirates rivalry is going too far. I’m sure all that is a result of club politics.”

uganda telecom Kobs and G4s Pirates has development programmes with Namilyango and Budo respectively.

Kobs’ coach Fred Mudoola, who is on three-year ban, was Namilyango coach while Pirates’ Sam Ahamya coaches Budo.
