EDITOR—I would like to inform the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), the works ministry and the Government about the junction at Namugongo Road and the Northern By-pass in Naalya.
This junction is very important but it appears the by-pass contractors intend to get the road commissioned without this junction in place! From my earlier observation, this junction was on plan as some work on it had been started but stopped abruptly, Why? Only God knows!
This junction is important for the traffic from Jinja Road, Mukono side heading for Namugongo, Kira, Kireka, and the surrounding localities.
This traffic would have to branch off at Kireka instead of at the roundabout at Namboole and then use the junction to get onto Namugongo Road. This means the traffic jam at Kireka will still be a pain even when the Northern By-pass has been commissioned.
If our country is not to be misunderstood as a ‘rogue state’, please, please, this junction cannot be ignored. It is very important for everyone who uses Jinja Road, lives in Kireka, Kiwatule, Namugongo, Kira, Ntinda and the surrounding areas.
