KATE Kabenge claimed the women’s table tennis singles and doubles titles at the on-going MTN Chairman’s Cup held at Kampala Club.

KATE Kabenge claimed the women’s table tennis singles and doubles titles at the on-going MTN Chairman’s Cup held at Kampala Club.

Kabenge was a 2-1 winner over Christine Byarugaba in the singles final before teaming up with Barbara Jjagwe to claim the doubles crown with a similar scoreline over Rosette Kebba and Byarugaba on Wednesday.

In badminton, Patience Musiime, Byarugaba and Kebba advanced to the semi-finals.

There was also action in the squash event where Steven Musisi stormed the semi-finals.

Musisi advanced after his opponent Sula Seremba retired with a leg injury in the third set with the score at 2-2.

Elsewhere, Coutts Muhenda stopped Deo Kato 3-2 in a closely contested duel to set up a match with John Magezi who beat Oskar Semweya 2-0.

In the tennis event of players above 60 years, Peter Tyaba beat Ben Mbonye 6-4 6-1 to move into the semi-finals.

James Rwanyange beat Patrick Ndyarugahi 6-3 7-6 (7-4) to join Tyaba.
