FRESH Cuts, a meat processing plant, has been certified by the Uganda National Bureau of Statistics.

The firm received the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), a food safety and quality assurance seal recently.

The system is used at all stages of food production and preparation processes including packaging, and distribution.

“The certification means that we adhere to the set standards of safety and production.

“This will reassure the public about the product they are buying,” explained Stephan Duyck, the managing director.

Fresh Cuts specialises in fresh, frozen and processed meat processing.

“As the only meat processing plant with this certification in Uganda, we are proud to have UNBS validate our high hygienic standards, which are in line with first world best practices,” Duyck said.

“We want the public to know that what sets us apart is not only the great taste of meat but also the hygienic way it is prepared.”

Fresh Cuts, which started four years ago, has invested $1m (about sh2b) in modern machinery.
