A HEALTH insurance plan targeting at all market segments has been launched by the African Air Rescue (AAR) and the InterGlobal Insurance Company.

InterGlobal Insurance Company is a UK-based international health insurance provider.

“The Health Platinum Plan targets locals, expatriates and will be extended to whole of the East African region,” Mark Ochola, the AAR general manager, said at the launch in Kampala last week.

He said the scheme would be administered by InterGlobal to provide subscribers and their family members quality healthcare.

“The subscribers and their family members can visit any private or public hospital and will be provided with medical care without having to worry about the costs,” said Ochola.

He said the scheme would cover a wide range of in and out-patients medical care including chronic medical conditions and terminal benefits, depending on one’s plan choice.

The Government is proposing to start universal health insurance scheme to cover both informal and formal sectors in the coming financial year.

There are about six private health insuranceproviders in the country, but they target people in the formal sectors.

There Ochola said they would supplement the Government move to offer medical insurance, adding that the Government cannot cover all the health needs of the community.

AAR is one of the largest private healthcare insurance providers in East Africa.

It also offers emergency rescue and evacuation services.
