WHEN the 2009 national basketball season tips off this Saturday, it is unlikely the main topic of discussion will be the boring predictions of who will win what championship. All the talk will be about the romantic story of D-Mark Power coach Andrew Bazira and A1 centre Liz Kizza.

As of May 1, the love birds will say their vows, signing on to a lifetime of potential companionship, one, but also to the glitzy rights of becoming local basketball’s First Couple of the FUBA league.

Bazira and Kizza made the decision public in front of their local congregation at Watoto Church on Sunday and, in just over a week’s time, the two will go where many of their youthful peers will only get in the future.

Asked whether their wedding might encourage many of their basketball contemporaries to follow suit, Bazira replied: “I don’t know, I think it’s just a normal thing.” He could, however, confirm his nuptial enthusiasm saying, “I’m definitely excited”.
