Police rescue suspect
IGANGA-The Police on Monday rescued Peter Isooba, a carpenter in Nabitende trading centre, from being lynched by a mob. The incident happened after news spread that Isooba was involved in the murder of his workmate in Mbale town. The mob attacked him with sticks and stones. South-eastern regional Police commander Christopher Kubai said Isooba escaped from Mbale after he was suspected of killing his colleague. Kubai said Isooba would be charged with murder, adding that he would be tried in Mbale.

Govt urged on Karimojong
BUSIA-MPs on the gender, labour and social development committee have asked the Government to suspend the resettlement of the Karimojong until better areas are opened up. The MPs were meeting the Karimojong community in Busia during a tour of internally displaced persons’ camps in Karamoja and Iriyiri recently. Committee chairperson Beatrice Lagada said the people lived in deplorable conditions.

Man held over fake drugs
JINJA-The Police have arrested a man for selling fake drugs, which he claimed cured headache, backache and syphilis. Karim Makati, who claimed he was a herbalist, was reportedly mixing soil, plant extracts, petrol and water to get the concoction. South-eastern regional Police spokesperson Zurah Nganyana said the Police arrested Makati after rescuing him from a mob, which was beating him up after he conned residents of Bugembe town council. The mob then tried to turn on Makati’s relatives, but it was restrained.
