GULU district chairman Norbert Mao has hailed the Government for rehabilitating the dilapidated wards, medical stores and staff quarters at Gulu Hospital.

The hospital is soon becoming a national referral hospital.

“We believe in strong partnership. Over the years we have been tackling education, tenders and community services. Now, we are focusing on health services. I am happy that there are big changes in infrastructure and management. Even theft of drugs from the hospital no longer happens,” Mao explained.

He made the remarks while receiving medical supplies from Watoto Church recently.

The medical superintendent, Dr. Yoventino Agel Akii, said the hospital received sh2b to rehabilitate the old buildings.

Akii said part of the money would be used to build staff houses.

He also said the hospital received sh600m from the Italian Cooperation to rehabilitate the X-Ray ward.

Akii asked the district for more land to expand the hospital.

Mao urged the hospital management to promote good relations with organisations that could give them aid.
