KAMPALA City Council KCC fc treasurer Abbas Kalungi has blamed his club’s woes on FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa. At a press conference held at the Kampala Central Division offices on William street, Kalungi alleged that the FUFA boss had recruited coaches and players to speak ill of the club and its administration.

“It is unfortunate that my president can’t listen to advice. He will even hate you as soon as you declare intentions to contest for his seat,” Kalungi told the press conference which was also addressed by KCC acting chairman Godfrey Kisekka and division boss Godfrey Nyakana.

Kalungi claimed that Mulindwa was antagonising KCC because of Patrick Isiagi, who has declared intentions to challenge him during the FUFA polls in December.

The press conference was meant to explain accusations of mismanagement against the club officials, who recently attracted FUFA criticism over failure to pay their own players’ salary arrears.

Nyakana argued that KCC is at the moment the best facilitated club locally but FUFA was hiring hooligans and the press to fail them. Nyakana alleged that KCC players’ recent threat to boycott a Champions League trip to Sudan was influenced by FUFA.

Citing former club official Paul Ssali as one of the “FUFA emissaries”, Nyakana weighed in by saying some people including coach George Nsimbe were paid to speak against the club administration.

“Paying players and coaches to make statements against the club is very unfair. Let them put their hands off our club,” a furious Nyakana said.

The outrage followed as KCC fans celebrating their 3-1 Confederations Cup first leg victory over Bayelsa United of Nigeria chanted that (striker Brian) “Umony is a hero, Kisekka is a thief.”

“You see people paying hooligans to come with sticks to destroy the chairman because his team has won,” Kisekka added.

He also lashed out at sections of the media for trying to force him out of the club. “Football is not a matter of life and death. My executive can go but remember Villa fans got (Omar) Mandela out, (Godfrey) Kirumira also got out see where Express is.”

The officials agreed that the players were demanding three months’ salary arrears which would be paid this week.

Kisekka threatened to sack wrong elements at the end of the season in order to restore sanity at the club saying that he was only tied up by timing as KCC chases the Super League title and the Confederations Cup.
