INFORMATION Minister Kabakumba Masiko has praised Vision Group’s multi-media investments, saying they were good efforts in the correct direction.

“The current wave is that we integrate the print media, radio and TV because they target different audiences,” said Masiko, adding that the group was doing a great job informing the public.

Masiko was yesterday on a tour to familiarise herself with the operations of the media.

The Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kabushenga, and the deputy Editor-in-Chief, Barbara Kaija, briefed Masiko on the company’s operations and investments.

The group’s print media products include The New Vision, Bukedde, Orumuri, Etop, Rupiny, Sunday Vision, Saturday Vision, Flair Magazine, The Premiership Magazine and ,/i>Bride and Groom.

The radios are Vision Voice (94.8fm), Bukedde (100.5fm) and Radio West (100.2fm).
The plan is to go into television, starting with Bukedde TV. Masiko said the Government recognised the group’s contribution to the economy by creating jobs. She lauded the company for its in-house training programmes aimed at equipping journalists with the practical skills.

Kaija told the minister that efforts were underway to ensure that all the group’s equipment was digital. Kaija said group’s commercial printing section was the most cost effective on the market.

“We print newspapers for some other media houses in Uganda, Rwanda and the DR Congo,” Kaija explained.
