EDITOR—The EFT (electronic fund transfer) method of paying school fees should be optional. I write this in response to the EFT method of paying school fees used by some schools in Uganda.

This method is not appropriate for parents in Uganda today because many parents are pressured due to the inability to raise money for school fees so that it is put on their accounts before the deadlines.

As a result, their children are sent back home because of the failure of the parents to pay in time. The authorities concerned should make the method optional so that the parents who are not able to pay fees in time can use bank drafts and bankslips.
