THE Uganda Olympic Committee will not support federations that request for support from the Olympic Solidarity Fund but have leaders not keen on developing sports.
Committee president Roger Ddungu has warned leaders who fail to turn up for this weekend’s federation administrators’ workshop that they will be shunned. The two-day seminar starts tomorrow at Crested Crane Hotel in Jinja.
“We promised change and this change must be seen. What we want is visible sports development in the country. If we organise a seminar to help you improve sports and you fail to turn up, then we will also turn our back against you when you come in for help,†warned Ddungu.
Each federation will be represented by its head, secretary and technical official. “I am sure they can spare just two days for the good of their federations,†he added.
The seminar, which will have speakers including former president and current Interntional Olympic Committee member Maj. Gen. Francis Nyangweso, Aggrey Kibenge, Byaruhanga Kadodooba among others, will end with a SWOT analysis.
The participants will also be taken shown how to draw good project proposals both for good communication and sponsorship.
