SAM Ssimbwa’s Simba FC recovered from a midweek defeat to Police to achieve a dream fifth place finish on the Uganda Super League table with a 2-0 win over Nalubaale in Bombo yesterday.

Simbwa’s visibly exhausted team went down 3-0 to Police last week but they recovered to torment Nalubaale with a spirited fight.

The win puts Simba (62 points) ahead of Police, who need to negotiate past SC Villa on the closing day of the league on June 13.

Mbarara will wait for FUFA’s decision over Youfra’s protest at Kakyeka to know their fate on whether to stay or fall off the league.

Youfra players went on a sit down protest against Mbarara’s 1-0 lead in their season ender yesterday.
Ayub Isiko’s lone goal at Nakivubo gave Iganga a priceless victory over Maji.

But the win had little impact given Boroboro’s 1-0 defeat of Kinyara, a win kept the same margin with Iganga in the relegation battle.

URA, SC Villa and defending champions KCC will provide a high tempo end to the league on June 10 and 13.
