THE Chief Magistrate’s Court in Jinja has issued criminal summons requiring ousted Katukiro (prime minister) of Busoga, Wilson Muwereza, to appear in court over charges of trespass.

The summons said Muwereza is required on Friday to answer charges of criminal trespass and disobedience of lawful orders.

The summon follows a recent warning by Muwema and Mugerwa Advocates, the lawyers representing the Obwa Kyabazinga of Busoga (Busoga kingdom) of legal steps against Muwereza if he did not leave the offices of Katukiro.

Muwereza is being charged with three counts of disobedience of lawful orders and criminal trespass and will be privately prosecuted.

It is alleged that on May 28, Muwereza caused a publication in The New Vision under the title “Busoga cabinet reshuffle – dropped premier Muwereza rejects changes”, which was utter disobedience of lawful court order issued by the High Court in Jinja on May 7.

Muwereza was also quoted as saying: “The court injunction that is said to have been imposed recently is ineffective”.

It is alleged that in his utterances, he also recognised the fact that Edward Columbus Wambuzi was working as Kyabazinga (cultural head of Busoga), which was also contrary to the court order stopping him from being Kyabazinga.
