Halt progress of this disease

Editor—I was really shocked to watch the news on NTV of a family which has been attacked by a strange disease in Jinja. The disease shatters the whole mouth, and the patient’s skin becomes extremely black.

My main worry is that this disease seems to be contagious. The people affected have been to many hospitals but the disease could not be identified!

Jinja district and the Government should consider this as an emergency and come to our rescue.

If bird flu, swine flu, cholera, Ebola and such other diseases can be treated as emergencies, I don’t think this strange disease is an exception. It is the duty of Government to protect its citizens and this is the right time to act.

Delaying to act might be disastrous not only to the people of Jinja but to all Ugandans.
