EDITOR—I advise the Government to transfer Faith Mwondha and Raphael Baku and deploy them elsewhere. This will save the institution embarrassment and solve the problem of its divided staff.

This image is very important in the wider public and international eye. There is no doubt Mwondha and Baku are both competent, principled and incorruptible managers.

However, they have been caught offguard in the court of public opinion. As CA delegates, they were both party to the formulation of articles 223 (4), (5) b, c, and 224 (b) of the 1995 Constitution.

They are now fighting, or seem to be fighting personal wars in a very sensitive public office. It is very hard for Government to win this battle without harming the dignity of these two office holders but we must move on and with sanity. The President should use his powers under articles 98, 99 and 223 (4) to nominate new people out of the very many capable Ugandans to take over the office of the IGG.
