FEDERATION of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) turns a new chapter today when retired driver George Kagimu takes over as president.

Kagimu will replace out- going president David Bitalo who declined to seek re-election at the federation's polls today at NCS head-offices at Lugogo.

Bitalo, who has served for four years, opted out citing a busy work schedule.

Nominations closed two weeks ago.

Kagimu, the proprietor of Festino Cite track in Mukono which hosts sprints, is believed to be an able replacement for Bitalo.

Oscar Kihika is also unopposed for the post of vice president (administration) while vice president (Rallying) Kisitu Mayanja faces a stiff battle against the youthful Charles Kasaija.

Vice president (Karting) Cedric Buzabo will retain his position while Arthur Blick who has been vice president (motorcycling) has paved way for Uganda Motocross Club’s Chris Glaser who is unopposed.

Mbarara Motor Club’s strongwoman Lillian ‘Senga’ Busingye is surprisingly unopposed for the position of general secretary.

MOSAC workhorse Mukiibi Katende will be the new assistant secretary.

The polls will be preceded by presentation of president's and treasurer's reports before new clubs are ratified by the assembly.

Eastern Motor Club, Uganda Motocross Club and Dusman Okee’s vibrant MPU Motorsport seek approval by the assembly.

UMOSPOC, MOSAC, UMC, Southern Motor Club, Mbarara, Jinja, Speedway and Uganda Motorsport Marshals Association will each be represented by seven delegates each.
