THE Rugby Cranes defeat to Tunisia was more than a loss of points as Uganda will also miss the services of team captain John Musoke through injury.

Musoke has been ruled out of the return leg in Tunis on June 27 after he broke a jaw as the Cranes fell to Tunisia 41-17.

Uganda Rugby Union boss William Blick hailed Musoke for his commitment to national duty.

“He got injured giving 101% effort for his country. His jaw got broken in two different areas so he will be out for one month. He will be back for the Elgon Cup,” Blick stated.
Robert Seguya, the other senior player, has a cut above the eye after the game but will be fit for the return leg.

Vice captain Moses Soita will lead the Cranes who resume training today at Kampala Rugby Club.

Blick expressed gratitude to the fans and sponsors, and called for patience and more support for the largely new team.

“It’s not yet all over for Cranes, we are capable of winning in Tunisia and advancing to the final. Tunisia did not outclass us but capitalised on our mistakes to win the match. We have learnt from our mistakes. Our focus is still on the World Cup,” Blick said in an interview.

He added that with an average age of 22 the team surpassed expectations and fits in the union’s long-term plan.
