UGANDA yesterday pushed ten boxers to the finals of the East Africa Military Games due in Kigali. Olympian Ronald Serugo, fighting in the light flyweight, led Uganda represented by the UPDF team to the finals set for today.
Nine other boxers, including lightweight Hassan Abdu, dismissed their opponents in impressive style, to advance.
Elsewhere, Adero Nyakiso clocked 25 minutes 36.63 seconds to finish second behind Kenya's veteran runner Sally Baseso in the cross-country.
But Kenya made a 1-2-3 sweep in the mens’ category where Chemutai Kiplimo emerged winner with a time of 32:48.71. Alex Chesakit was Uganda’s top finished in 10th place at 33:47.76.
In handball, the UPDF team went down to Tanzania 24-21 in a game that could have gone either way.
