The Court of Appeal has upheld a nine-year-jail term for a man convicted of defilement, saying it is a fitting punishment. Moses Musisi, 42, a resident of Kasubi trading centre in Mukono, had complained that the High Court trial judge had given him a harsh punishment even after he was convicted on his own plea of guilty and saved court’s precious time. “The trial judge considered the seriousness of the offence. We do not see any reason to justify us to interfere with the sentence,†court ruled.
PE teachers to register

The Ministry of Education and Sports is to register physical education (PE) and sports teachers in both government and private schools. This was disclosed by the principal education officer, Sammy Odongo, while addressing students of St Joseph’s Girls’ Secondary School, Nsambya on their Sports Day recently.
