G4S Pirates learnt their lesson in Entebbe early this year and are geared to flex their muscles a little more in today’s robust Super 8 Rugby League tie against the Entebbe Mongers.

Pirates’ captain Solomon Mawanda has warned that his side that escaped with a slim 19-14 victory in the first round of the league does not take Mongers lightly any more.

Mongers went on to confirm their ‘big boys’ status by restricting MTN Heathens to a 22-17 win before holding Uganda telecom Kobs to an unlikely 7-7 draw.

“Mongers have even changed tactics — their game is more physical than any other club. We are looking at it as a testing game,” Mawanda stated.

“They hate structures so we will have to use our structures and get physical when defending. This win is important for the championship,” he added.

Pirates (27 points) with a game in hand are five points behind champions Uganda telecom Kobs, who cross over to Kyadondo Rugby Ground to pick up what is expected to be a routine win over Buffaloes.
