THE Uganda Rugby Union URU is close to securing high level technical assistÂance from South Africa, Scotland and Wales.
Rugby chairman William Blick had separate meetings with South Africa Rugby Union SARU president Oragon Hoskin, his Wales counterpart Dennis Gethin and Scotland rugby boss Allan Munro in Johannesburg last weekend.
Blick who described the initial talks as ‘very fruitÂful’, hopes to conclude all three partnerships in four weeks.
Blick who also met SARU chief executive officer Johan Prinslow said that the memorandum of underÂstanding that will see Uganda get technical perÂsonnel from South Africa is expected to be signed by the end of the month.
“SARU will provide perÂsonnel that will assist in development and high perÂformance management. We want to develop the U-14 and U-16 sides that will eventuÂally feed the Rugby Cranes. We are also exploring the possibility of South Africa’s development side playing Uganda once a year,†Blick said.
