The youth have been urged to devote their efforts to learning and understanding their cultures. “The youth should also try to protect and embrace their languages. Our languages form a big part of our cultures. You should stop mixing them with foreign languages, which dilute them,†the Katikkiro of Buganda, Eng. J.B. Walusimbi, urged.
Walusimbi made the remarks while officiating at the swearing-in for new leaders of the Nkobazambogo, an association for the youth from Buganda, at Seeta High School in Mukono recently. He appealed to parents in Buganda to help their children enroll in Nkobazambogo right from primary school level.
“Enrolling the children in Nkobazambogo will help to groom them with better moral values that will promote the good culture of Buganda,†he observed. The Buganda minister for youth and employment, Florence Bagunywa Nkalubo, advised the youth in Buganda to support the kingdom.
“The youth are the strong pillars that hold the kingdom. The kingdom would face many challenges if the youth turned away from it. Therefore, they need to be firm and strong when it comes to supporting the kingdom in all its programmes,†she noted.
The headmaster, Allan Obbo, noted that clubs, like Nkobazambogo, united students from different backgrounds and helped them to learn more from each other.
He added that such clubs promoted discipline and cultural values among students.
