AKBAR Baig picked six wickets and lifted champions Tornado to trounce Tornado B by ten wickets in a Castle Premier League game at Kyambogo.

Yesterday’s haul took Baig’s total to 16 wickets in five matches from the beginning of the season.

Lawrence Ssematimba hit 162 runs in the plate league as Premier beat SKLPS by 199 runs at Lugogo. National U-19 stars Ahmed Sangau (50) and Yakoub Ahmed (47) also sparkled in Charity’s 242 run win over Colombo at Budo.

It was the opposite of what was anticipated in the Kyambogo fixture, when the game started, with Baig’s six wickets and two by Frank Nsubuga limiting Tornado B to an embarrassing 84 runs.

Once the chase started veteran Stephen Luswata (36*) and Akbar Baig (49*) kept their promise of not going for lunch until the game is over to keep Tornado’s unbeaten record intact.

At Lugogo, Ssematimba was supported by Daniel Ruyange (61), Rehma Zia (56) and Davis Karashan (50) enroute setting a target of 373 for SKLPS, which they failed to match, stopping at 174.

The win eased pressure on Premier after second placed Charity was spurred by Ahmed Sangau’s half century and a five- wicket haul to beat Colombo.
