BEIJING Olympian Ronald Serugo has secured full sponsorship for the world championships in Milan, Italy in September.

The offer from world boxing body AIBA also caters for an August 10-26 training camp at the national boxing centre in Assisi, Italy.

These are some of several ground-breaking initiatives by the Dr. Ching-Kuo Wu led AIBA to assist boxers from less-privileged countries.

Serugo, who has been in serious training under national coach Jimenez Gonzalez, described the offer as a priceless opportunity to prove himself.

The light flyweight controversially lost on a 9-5 margin in Beijing to Mongolian fighter Purevdorjiin Serdamba. Serdamba went on to win silver.

AIBA used the last world meet in Chicago and the Olympics as a basis for nominating possible beneficiaries of the Milan grant. It is from these names that national federations would then choose one boxer.

Serugo, who recently won gold at the East Africa Military Games, was named together with Aldina Muzei (feather), Phillip Adyak (l/fly), Ismail Muwendo (light), and Edward Akora (lightwelter).
