PATRICK Byabakama Kaberenge is the new acting deputy governor of the Bank of Uganda. Previously, he was the bank’s chief internal auditor, and has worked in the BOU internal audit function for 10 years.

PATRICK Byabakama Kaberenge is the new acting deputy governor of the Bank of Uganda. Previously, he was the bank’s chief internal auditor, and has worked in the BOU internal audit function for 10 years.
He was also the head of the department of domestic currency for five years, which he helped to revamp. He has at times worked as a currency expert and advisor for the Central Bank of Kenya, in the spirit of East African cooperation.
Byabakama, who holds a MSc. in Finance and Computing from the University of Greenwitch, UK, has been in the BOU management team for the past 15 years. Before joing the central bank, he worked with the Uganda Cooperative Transport Union as a chief accountant and the Ministry of Finance as an accountant.
Byabakama is a chartered banker, chartered certified accountant, certified internal auditor and has a BSc. in Financial Services from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology.
He was elected as Uganda’s International “Who is Who of Professionals†in 2004 in the US.
