Ndagire gets nod for US folk awards

Local music performer and radio presenter, Sarah Ndagire, has hitched two nominations in the upcoming Just Plain Folks Music Awards. One of the world’s largest music awards are slated to take place in Nashville Tennessee in the US on August 29.

Local music performer and radio presenter, Sarah Ndagire, has hitched two nominations in the upcoming Just Plain Folks Music Awards. One of the world’s largest music awards are slated to take place in Nashville Tennessee in the US on August 29.

“I feel honoured to have been singled-out of 51,500 other musicians all over the world for this award,” said a jubilant Ndagire during a recent interview with the New Vision. Her album Katitiira was nominated for Best Album Africa while Katitiira and Olikoma Eyo were nominated in the Best Songs Africa category.

She will vie against Cameroonian singer Francis Mbappe, King Kora of Gambia, South African Tefo Hlaele, Kaleta-Zozo Afrobeat of Benin, Za Manel of Guinea Bissau, Afongo Zimba of Ghana, Nigeria’s Baba Ken Okuolo and Djiki from Cape Verde.

The Just Plain Folks Music Awards were started in 1999 comprises 70 music genres. Nominations were picked out of 42,000 albums and 560,000 songs from across the world.
