Uganda given major publicity
- Uganda prominently features in the latest edition of the world’s leading bodybuilding publication - Flex Magazine. Highlighted in the glossy issue is the inaugural Bob Classic tournament staged at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel in May. The competition has an entire page in the prestigious magazine in an article, photos and statistics compiled by seasoned bodybuilding writer James Riley.
US-based Ugandan Robert Ssebuggwawo organised the two-day Kampala event not only to ignite interest in the iron sport, but also to inspire awareness of the physical and mental benefits of sports. Middleweight Ivan Byekwaso, a 26-year-old former footballer, emerged overall champion. Ssebugwawo, a tireless advocate of physical fitness, has lived and competed in the US since 1999.

Leaders plan protest match
- It is a rare occurrence in Ugandan football for politicians to take part in a demonstration accusing the concerned authorities of neglecting sports facilities.
This is going to happen in the western district of Bushenyi where Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) activists are threatening to join the football fans and take to the streets if the Local Council V chairman does not resume work on the district stadium. FDC district chairman Odo Tayebwa said it was time to wake up the district chairman Longino Ndyanabo with a peaceful demonstration so that work on the stadium can resume. “It is a shame that whenever we have district sports activities, we have relied on other play grounds to host these games,” Odo said.
