EDITOR—There have been concerns about the quality of milk on the Ugandan market, especially that sold in dairy shops. The Dairy Development Authority (DDA), the government body that regulates the dairy industry, is advising all consumers to:

  • Always buy milk from registered and licensed raw milk traders where traceability is possible. All registered raw milk traders have a certificate issued by DDA.

  • Report any complaints regarding the quality of milk to DDA on Tel: 0414343883 with all the details regarding the source of the milk in question. Complaints can also be registered at our office on Plot 1 Kafu Road, Nakasero.

  • DDA continuously monitors the quality of milk and milk products on the market to ensure consumer safety. This includes both local and imported milk products.

I would like to assure Ugandans that DDA is committed to ensuring that only safe milk and milk products are available to consumers.
