UGANDA’S five-run Monday loss to Hong Kong at the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifier – their fourth at the tournament – virtually put the Africa regional champions out of contention.
For Uganda to qualify, they would have to defeat Afghanistan, Ireland and the Netherlands in their last group matches.
Uganda’s loss to Hong Kong demoted them one place to eight position, two spots outside the all-important top-six finish that guarantees qualification to next year’s World Cup. Uganda have played at the event twice, in 2004 and 2006.
