FOR Nkumba Marines and Ndejje University Angels, today represents some sort of D-Day. The two leading frontrunners for the fourth playoff spot in MTN-FUBA top division meet at YMCA in a game that neither can afford to lose.

The eventual winner will establish some grip on fourth place, leaving the loser with a real struggle to get into post-season. Nkumba and Ndejje suffered surprise losses to KIU and the Knight Riders respectively last week.

“That is the game I have to win,” Ndejje coach Walker Obedi has long maintained.

“If I can beat Nkumba, then my team will qualify for the playoffs.”

Obviously it won’t be that straight forward as Ndejje’s 82-81 defeat by the Riders showed.

Besides Ndejje, KIU and Miracle, who have 17 points each but have played more, are still within reach of snatching fourth position.
