UGANDA’S CAF Confederations Cup representatives SC Villa could negotiate the forthcoming season without their team captain Simeon Masaba.

The Cranes defender is just one among four Ugandan players close to sealing lucrative contracts with Rwandan giants ATRACO.

KCC FC midfielder Ronald Kamoga, striker Moses Oloya and Police marksman Peter ‘Crouch’ Ssenyonjo complete the list of four that ATRACO are desperately pursuing and hoping to sign before the end of this month.

“ATRACO are willing to spend to have them. The club has asked Ugandan coach Sam Timbe, who is already here, to negotiate their moves,” a reliable source disclosed yesterday.

Masaba’s intended departure in particular will be a blow for Villa.
There is no doubt Villa possess some fine youngsters and a decent squad capable of matching the best in the domestic league.

But the Blues, who have already lost first team stars –– Steven Bengo and Emma Okwi, will need a few experienced legs to sustain their run in the Confederations Cup. Villa signed Jonathan Aigbe, Hood Mayanja, Simon Sserunkuuma and Emma Marcus.

  • Villa have signed veteran defender Phillip Obwiny for a season-long contract ahead of midfielder Hakim Magumba. The two featured for the side in the 1990s.
