KAMPALA Central MP Erias Lukwago has asked the Inspector General of Government, Kale Kayihura, to clarify on media reports that the Police have a list of wanted politicians from Buganda.

Lukwago has also asked for personal security, citing threats to his life from unknown callers using a landline 0414-572845.

The request is contained in a September 14 letter to Kayihura. Lukwago alleged that he received death threats on his mobile phone on Monday.

He said when he asked the caller to identify himself, he responded, “Whether you hide or run away, we shall kill you. We are tired of your kamanyiiro (disrespect).’ Just wait for your live bullets. Tutawawuuwa (Swahili for we shall kill you.”

Lukwago called on the Police to investigate the matter, adding: “I feel my life is in danger.” He also denied involvement in last week’s city riots.

But Edward Ochom, the Criminal Investigation Department director, yesterday dismissed Lukwago’s claims, saying: “I think Lukwago is a haunted man. If you are not guilty consciousness, why do you panic?”
