What are these noises that ring in my head and how can get rid of them?
MOST noises in the head originate from the ears and are usually not serious. Some degree of noise is normal especially when in a very quite environment such as a sound proof room.

Dear Doctor, I have had a ringing head for 15 years now. I have tried treatment from the mental clinic in mulago but this has not stopped. Sir is this sickness curable? If so, may I know the right drug that can cure me? What is the cause of all these noises? John
Dear John, MOST noises in the head originate from the ears and are usually not serious. Some degree of noise is normal especially when in a very quite environment such as a sound proof room.
One is usually not aware of this because the outside noise masks it. As a result, any thing that blocks the ear passage such as foreign bodies and wax increases the noise.
Chronic ear infections such as diseases of the middle and inner ear may also be responsible. Old age does result in a degree of nerve impairment.
This affects the nerves of the ear as well and could cause the noise. Exposure to loud noise can damage structures inside the ear.
You need to have your ears thoroughly checked. It is also necessary to rule out other serious but rare causes such as tumours or abnormalities of the blood vessels in the brain.
In some cases, the problem may have no specific treatment and may be permanent. However there are a number of things you can do to minimise the noise and the effect they have on your life.
Avoid exposure to loud noises and stimulants such as caffeine and tea. Avoid being anxious and worried about the noise because this only makes it worse. Get adequate rest and exercise. Goodluck
