Express' Hassan Mubiru stirs confusion

CONTROVERSY surrounds striker Hassan Mubiru’s return to Express FC.
Nalubaale FC owner Mujib Kasule could take the former Cranes international Hassan Mubiru to court this week after accusing him of obtaining money from the club by false pretence.
Kasule yesterday gave Mubiru an ultimatum of up to the end of today to refund sh2m he has allegedly picked from the club for a two-year renewable contract.
“I have given him up to Friday to refund our money if he does not want to play for us,†Kasule warned.
“If he does not respond, we shall do what we know best. I did not expect a senior player like him (Mubiru) to do that.â€
Mubiru, who temporarily quit football at the same time with Kasule in 2006, is making a return with a hope to re-launch his career.
Officials at Wankulukuku confirmed Mubiru’s presence at the club and expect him to lead their striking line.
They said that he had agreed fresh terms for a year’s contract worth sh2m.
Mubiru quit Express three years ago and the club officials still consider him their player.
He is among the seven senior players Nalubaale has recruited to beef up their squad along side SC Villa reject goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi, Ausi Kaaya, Jamil Kyambadde (KCC) Richard Luyima (Victors) Edison Benda (Bunamwaya) and Phillip Ssozi.
Most of the players are still negotiating deals with Nalubaale although they have registered as the club players with FUFA.
Express on the other hand will be testing their striking partnership of Mubiru and Mzee Daniel Sserunkuma, when they take on Kenya out fit Gor Mahia today at Nakivubo.
Gor Mahia is currently in the country for two international friendly matches.
According to Matia Lule, who is part of Express’s technical bench, the match will give them an opportunity to re-organise the team.
“We have been told to prepare and that is basically what we are doing,†Lule explained at Wankulukuku yesterday.
