THE trade and industry minister, Maj.Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, has asked the people of Ruhinda county to vote him as MP for one last term running from 2011 to 2016.

He said if elected in 2011, he would not contest for the seat again in 2016.

Speaking in Runyankole, Otafiire said: “Ogu gwaheza kuhwa nimba ntakigarukayo...eehh...kanakaba.” (After 2016, I will not go back, I am tired).

Otafiire was on Thursday speaking at the commissioning of Kabira-Mutara water project, which was funded by the south-western water and sanitation development facility.

“You should shun those who are saying they want to stand against Kahinda. One of them even has a case to answer at Bushenyi Police Station involving theft funds.”

“They should not deceive you that they are going to bring you things. Where are they going to get them from?” he added.
Otafiire said he had fulfiled a big part of what he had pledged to do.

He added that the Government would work on projects like the tarmacking of Kashenshero-Rukungiri road and the extension of a safe water pipeline and electricity to Rutokye.

“Where I have failed, I will defend myself,” he said.

He said the Government would revive all cooperative societies and unions as one way of creating job opportunities for the unemployed.

The minister also disclosed that his ministry had been given money to buy equipment that would enable the people to establish small-scale industries to create more jobs.
