Mukono diocese gets new provost

THE Bishop of Mukono Diocese, Eria Paulo Luzinda, on Thursday announced the confirmation of John Ssebudde as the provost of the diocese.

THE Bishop of Mukono Diocese, Eria Paulo Luzinda, on Thursday announced the confirmation of John Ssebudde as the provost of the diocese.

Ssebudde has been serving in an acting capacity since last year.

He took over from Steven Kazimba, who was elected Bishop of Mityana Diocese.

Luzinda made the announcement during the diocesan council meeting at St. Philip and Andrew’s Cathedral in Mukono.

He also elevated Ssebudde to a canon, saying he deserved the title because of his new position.

The Rev. George William Kityo of Ndeeba Archdeaconry in Kayunga district was also made cannon.

Kityo, who started serving the Church as a priest in 1978, described his elevation as a blessing from God.

It was also announced that on November 29, 2010, Luzinda will retire and a new bishop will be installed.

The diocese has budgeted sh180m for the installation and Luzinda’s farewell function.
